Tell me about yourself

Hello, I am Kelby Mann, and I am a well-rounded individual that brings hard work, an inquisitive nature, and critical thinking to every endeavor. I have been committed to broadening my mind, exposing myself to different experiences, and engaging with different ways of thinking. These aspects and a passion for problem solving led to the foundation for my passion for consulting.
I received a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Hawai’i, focused on International Relations and a minor in Conflict Resolution. As a Great Recession graduate, I saw the diminished job market as an opportunity. I achieved a lifetime dream by becoming a professional Whitewater Raft Guide for eleven years. I used this experience to hone strengths and skills that could be transferred to other endeavors, such as crisis management, critical thinking, teamwork, decision making, hard work, educating, and public speaking. Daily, I led others and influenced their actions. I have a passion for sustainability, and was able to show people the real-world importance of such actions. I have a commitment for diversity and inclusion, and I was able to educate, entertain, and build trust with different people, coming from a variety of economic and cultural backgrounds. I found ways to bring thousands of people together despite our differences. I am able to get along with most anyone, be personable and open for others to engage, and build respectful relationships with the people I meet. Also, it was a great industry to utilize past performance analysis to then implement for team development, and strategically plan future actions based on data analysis, risk mitigation, and variable recognition.
Concurrently, I would typically work two jobs and I used this time to learn new things and grow each day. I have spent time in Market Research, Internet Sales and Marketing, Logistics, Hospitality, Education, Politics, Agriculture, Environmental Consulting/Industrial Hygiene, and Entrepreneurship. I have worked for numerous Billion-dollar multinational companies, even achieving best in company awards. I have worked for sole proprietorships, helping a family make ends meet. In each instance, I sought after and thrived in jobs where I could offer consulting services to my clients. One such example is in 2012, I taught myself SEO, SEM, SMM, and SEP and was an internet marketing consultant for successful business owners nationwide guiding their implementation of these marketing strategies into their existing plans. In environmental compliance, I acted as a consultant to world renowned organizations, addressing environmental building hazards and helping with remediation implementation recommendations and oversight. Then a few years ago, I started my own Business Development and Consulting company working with small businesses addressing strategic planning, monetization of assets, and developing new revenues. In my spare time, I like to volunteer with at-risk children’s education efforts, as well as building awareness around the importance of environmental stewardship and sustainability.
I would like to work in Management Consulting or Corporate Finance. I would like to work for a firm committed to mitigating risk, resolving conflicts, guiding organizational change, and demonstrating leadership and in which my experience, strengths, and education fit well together. I am getting my MBA from Texas A&M University to better assist business leaders, hoping to move into a role where I can work for a larger firm, working on more complex issues. I have demonstrated why I am an exceptional candidate, but can I clarify anything about myself to better help demonstrate this?
